In this blog, we had the pleasure of interviewing an expert in the field: Heinrich Schmidt, the owner of Heinz in Style. As a fashion expert and stylist, Heinrich devotes his time to enhancing special occasions with the perfect outfits.
We asked him about the 2024 wedding trends and his recommendations for styling our G.H.BASS Weejuns, for weddings.

Getting To Know Heinz in Style
1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started in the fashion industry.
I grew up next to the Orange River many years ago.
As an only son, you follow in your dad's footsteps, so I became a qualified mechanic, but my heart and soul were not in it. I was in grade 6 when I told my mom that it would either be the clothing or food industry, well…I celebrated 40 years in January 2024 in the fashion industry and never looked back.
2. How would you describe your personal style in three words?
Classic, Colourful, Vibey.
3. How do you stay up to date with current fashion trends?
I frequent the fashion pages and shows, and also listen to clients. With that in mind, I source the garments we stock. Unfortunately, we cannot always stock everybody's taste.
4. What wedding fashion trends do you foresee for the upcoming wedding season?
It very much depends on the time of day. The later in the day, the darker the suit.
The classic tuxedo will never die, you can add a variety of accessories to it to make it different each time. The tux can be worn relaxed or very formal. Coloured suits are also in fashion at the moment and can be worn to a variety of events.
5. What are some trendy/unique colour palettes that you would recommend for a winter wedding versus a summer wedding?
Winter: forest green, wine red, charcoal, navy, and royal blue.
Summer, all the colours mentioned above, as well as, a shade lighter in suits.
A wedding outfit must be more formal, as the bride spends a lot of money on her outfit, and as a groom especially, your outfit needs to be up to scratch to match your bride.
6. Can you discuss some trendy loafer and suit combos ( i.e. which loafer design works with which style of suit)?
The more formal leather loafer can be worn with a smart three-quarter pair of pants, a shirt and golf shirt, stylish jeans, a casual suit or a formal suit - the possibilities are endless!
But the bottom line is, that footwear must make a statement on a man's outfit, and that is exactly what a good pair of loafers will do.
7. Can you share some tips on mixing and matching Weejuns with different textures and colours in wedding outfits?
With loafers, you want to be daring.
Two-toned ones, as well as suede ones, are awesome to wear with a variety of styles and colours. It can be worn with patterned socks or secret socks. The classic tan/brown will always be popular, and it's great when the shoe has an added detail because this gives it an extra spark and some attitude.
8. Have you had a chance to try out your G.H.BASS yet? If so, how do you like them?
I love both pairs, the leather and the suede ones.
